It explores how great fortunes, and the legends around them, are constructed in the world of late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century financiers and industrialists. By offering several versions of the same story, it makes you question who controls the narrative, what is hidden and who is erased, particularly the wife. I really liked the idea and the atmosphere, although I found parts of it difficult.
