READING RECORD · TIMEKEEPERS-SIMON-GARFIELD
Timekeepers
My notes
I really enjoyed this book as I documented writing my own. It's a cultural history of our obsession with measuring, controlling and harnessing time, told through clocks, trains, calendars, music, sports and lots of curious stories. One of the ideas that stuck with me was that Beethoven never got to travel more than 30 miles an hour, a very simple way to understand how much the world has accelerated.
