No magic

What Cervantes looks at

Cervantes reads through the text and looks for expressions, structures, punctuation and endings that appear again and again. It then adjusts the result to the length, so two phrases do not unfairly penalise a short text.

The score describes the text. Something written by a person can contain many formulaic phrases, while something written with AI may contain none. We only count patterns here.

The catalogue contains 82 habits. This page detects the ones that can be found with clear rules. The rest still need someone to actually read the text.

From green to red

What the number means

  • 0–15%Few formulas. Cervantes barely finds any phrases that appear everywhere.
  • 16–35%A few isolated habits. There are a couple of things to review and the text holds up well.
  • 36–60%The stock phrases show. Several phrases are beginning to sound too familiar.
  • 61–80%Stock phrases weigh it down. Go back to the ideas and state them more directly.
  • 81–100%Too many formulas. The idea is there, but it needs a lot less wrapping.
